While the basic process of washing HDPE flake is a fairly simple, we go the extra mile to ensure that our flake is exceptionally clean. That’s one reason why our wash line was custom-manufactured specifically for washing post-consumer HDPE flake.
How We Surpass the Competition
At Plastic Recycling Solutions (PRS) we use a proprietary four-step process to ensure that our flake is as pure as possible. This not only removes contaminants, but it also eliminates the weight those contaminants would otherwise add.
• In the first stage of the wash process, a scrubber removes dirt, grime, and contaminants. • The second stage is an intense high-RPM scrubber that removes paper labels and remaining dirt or grime. • The third stage is a proprietary rinsing system that removes all fines, rinsing the plastic completely clean. • The final stage is a four-tank, float-sink system.
In each tank the regrind is submerged to a depth of twelve inches. The washed regrind is submerged repeatedly to ensure that no metal, dirt, debris, PET, PVC, PS, or other plastic contaminants will make it through to the finished product. The end result is the purest, cleanest HDPE flake available.
